3rd MILRS International Symposium 2026

The 3rd Malaysian Ionic Liquids International Symposium 2026 is jointly organized by the Malaysian Ionic Liquids Research Society (MILRS) together with the Fundamental and Applied Science Department and the Chemical Engineering Department at the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). The symposium will also have collaborators from other public and private universities and institutions.

The theme for the symposium is “Ionic Liquids and Deep Eutectic Solvents for a Circular, Low-Carbon Future”. Included in the theme are Sustainable and green solvents for energy and environment, greener processes, decarbonisation and green energy, materials innovation and circular economy, safer pharmaceutical and bioprocessing solvents, critical mineral recovery and e-waste valorization, circular solvent design: benign-by-design ionic liquids/deep eutectic solvents, and green extraction of food and natural products using NADES.

Besides being a platform for collaboration and sharing scientific findings, the symposium also aims to build awareness and foster partnerships among various participating universities and institutions.
